About Oinktoberfest 2010
|
Sept
24 - 26, Clarence, NY
A Key West Experience |
In keeping with tradition, the organizers meet on Sunday night after the event is over to discuss the weekend and to look for ways to improve, but the fun result of that meeting is deciding the following year's theme. After much brainstorming, arguing and indulging, a decision was made. This year, Oinktoberfest 2010 is "A Key West Experience". Palm trees, sandals, coconuts, a steel drum band, Jimmy Buffett tunes and hopefully some Parrotheads will make this the best year ever.
The Great
Pumpkin Farm at 11163 Main St, Clarence, NY 14031 is once again the site for this area's biggest BBQ festival. Please check
out our MAP for directions.
Saturday's competition is Kansas City Barbeque Society
(KCBS) sanctioned. Team entries are judged and scored according to KCBS
guidelines and rules. Food categories include: chicken, pork ribs, pork
butt/shoulder, beef brisket. The scores of these four categories
determines the Grand Champion. Additional categories are a themed side dish
and dessert. For a look at last year's KCBS contest results please
click HERE. And don't forget to check
out the picture gallery from the last four years. The links are at the
bottom of this page.
Sunday's events include both the Outdoor Cooking Contest and the first ever Rib Oink-Off. The Outdoor Cooking Contest allows it all, as long as it is happens outdoors: grilling, smoking, frying, baking, steaming, braising, using whatever fuel source you want. Categories are chicken wings, any pork except ribs, themed side dish, chili and dessert. Teams may independently enter either or both contests. There is a discount when entering both Sunday events.
Many thanks to all who have participated in past years. Last year alone
we had over 100 judges & volunteers, over 90 teams and thousands of attendees. If you are interested in being a judge, entering any of the contests, taking the Judge's certification class, or becoming a vendor, please check out our FORMS
page for information and applications.
